| I started with Discovery Toys in 2001 when I was a twenty-one year old Special Education major at The University of Texas. I was raising my younger sister, working part-time at a childcare facility, and supplementing my income by baby-sitting in my home. Discovery Toys interested me at first because I could purchase toys for my home at a discount or get them for free. That’s all I wanted at the beginning; however, with a little success and the coaching of a great team leader, it grew into a thriving service. Because someone shared this opportunity with me and invited me to share the mission of Discovery Toys, I now have the privilege of passing this opportunity on to others. While my business is a part time job while I finish my degree, it is so much more than a way to earn a living. It is about support, opportunity, flexibility, and choice. Selling Discovery Toys is one of the many ways I fulfill my passion to support families, educators, and children of all abilities by making sure they have tools they need to be successful, while teaching parents the value of spending quality time playing with their children. Fostering success ranges from finding the one toy that motivates a blind infant to reach to helping the reluctant reader have fun with the English language. Having age appropriate Discovery Toys games can even give an older child a way to spend some meaningful time with his parents. Working with Discovery Toys allows me the flexibility I need right now as a busy college student and will help in the future. When I graduate and start a family of my own, I will have the choice to teach or I can take my business to the top. What I love about my Discovery Toys business is that I have choices and limitless opportunities to grow personally and financially while helping others as they strive towards achieving their goals and dreams through play!
