1. Imagine wanting to nurture your young children’s interest in music and dance but not having the budget for extras despite working four part-time jobs around being home with your children.
2. Imagine walking into an acquaintance’s living room and seeing the quality toys for which you had been searching in stores for months.
That’s how I felt in November 1982 when I first was a guest at a Discovery Toys home party. I saw myself recommending these incredible products to friends, but I couldn’t see how I could add another job at that time.
The DT representative a year later invited me to join her team. She shared how with a tiny investment my family could enjoy all the quality toys, books, games and music offered by this trustworthy company. I decided if I ordered the intro kit and shared the products and business with others, I could quit those other “j.o.b.”s and have “m.o.b.”. During the next few years I went from “just over broke” to building “my own business” earning $1,000,000 while my children felt I was home all the time.*
My joy is to empower those who join my team to build their own incomes and raise confident, curious, creative caring children, like mine, who are also brilliant, talented, world-travelers because of the extras I've been able to afford.
* At age seven my son Matthew was asked, "What do you think about your mother going to convention?" He responded, "She only leaves town when she needs to get a way from us!"
When he came home from college one summer, he asked, "Why does the phone ring during supper?" I confessed that I no longer trained my customers and team members not to call after 4 p.m.
Matthew is now a daddy himself and wants my grandchild to grow up with the best toys in the world plus playing violin, piano, and soccer, attending church preschool and the Montessori program he remembers so fondly.
