A Career That Makes a Difference!

When I started selling Discovery Toys 9 years ago I had no intentions of selling the toys! I actually just agreed to co-host a party with a friend so I could get some free stuff as gifts for my brother and sister and maybe a few things for the kids I often babysat. Well, when I got that first bag of toys and my brother and sister loved the toys I had given them, the excitement grew. I thought, "OK, I’ll have 1 party for just me as I need even more toys for my house." Then my now amazing team leader, and always a good friend, said “You are good at this and do you realize you are already working this business? You can sign up and have even more.” OK, I said, “But I’m not selling. I’m just going to enjoy the good deal.” Before I knew it I was working my way up the ranks in the company and loving it! What you don’t realize is that I wasn’t your normal 21-year-old going to college and having fun.  Rather, my 17-year-old sister was living with me, I was going to dialysis 3 times a week, taking 17 hours at UT, and working 30 hours a week at a child care center. I was soon able to decrease my hours at the child care center and quickly Discovery Toys became my primary income. I love providing parents with high quality educational toys, games, books, and music for their children to learn and be successful with! There is not much more exciting than opening up my email to find stories from parents writing to share how Measure Up Cups finally made fractions click for their second grader, or their child with sensory disabilities allowed Super Yummy to be their first spoon. I’ve now graduated from UT with a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education and a focus in Reading Instruction. I’ve had 2 kidney transplants and several other health challenges. Discovery Toys has been a business where no matter my health the business and team support is always present. No one fires you or even gets mad at you for trying something new. Instead they support you 100% of the way right to the top! Along with my successful career with Discovery Toys, continuing to share the power of play in children’s lives, I take care of children in my home, and tutor children in reading, math, speech, and social skills. Wherever I am my Discovery Toys business is there with me. I love working with people as they host their own parties to get free toys, and even more than that helping anyone interested in starting their own business. We have the most supportive staff at our home office and our team leaders are some of the most amazing woman I’ve ever met! My goal this year is to add 100 more enthusiastic team members to my team! Together we can make a difference in children’s lives with Discovery Toys.
